World Music Day 2019, Singers, Musicians Open Up About Their Favourite Music, Quotes by the legends of the music world. On June 21, World Music Day or Fête de la Musique all genres of music from around the world are celebrated. World Music Day has its origins in France, but has now been adopted by over 120 nations across the world, including India. Music is truly the soul of Bollywood movies, and the success of a film depends entirely on it.
The International day, also known as the Fête de la Musique, is an annual celebration of music and on the occasion, people are urged to play music in public places and parks and various free concerts are also organized, where musicians play for free. The idea of the day was conceived in the 1970s by American musician Joel Cohen who used to work for a French radio station as he wanted bands to play on the evening of June 21 to welcome the first day of summer.
Today, on June 21, as we celebrate World Music Day, it has to be about music everywhere. And so, while Bollywood has all sorts of songs and we sure never tire of them, we also have many actors turned singers, those who have done complete justice to that role. The day was finally adopted by France’s ministry of culture in 1982 due to efforts of Minister of Culture Jack Lang and French composer and music journalist Maurice Fleuret who had joined the ministry the previous year.
