Vicky Kaushal to play Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in Meghna Gulzar, general who told Indira when Indian Army wasn’t ready for a war. Vicky Kaushal is set to reunite with Meghna Gulzar for a film based on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Earlier, the two worked together in the 2018 film Raazi. Vicky Kaushal occupied a top spot on the list of trends on Thursday after the first look from his forthcoming film, which is based on the life of Field Marshal of India Sam Manekshaw, was released by the makers on social media.
Forty-eight years on, the life, times and contribution of the intrepid Manekshaw is being brought to life by director Meghna Gulzar in the eponymous film, 'Sam'. Saying that his job was to fight to win, he asked for a few months’ time a request which Gandhi, to her credit, accepted. True to his word, when the India-Pakistan war finally broke out in December 1971, Manekshaw delivered India one of its swiftest and most remarkable military victories.
"It's an absolute honour for me to be getting the opportunity to portray the life of Sam Manekshaw. Reuniting with Ronnie and Meghna feels like home because of the tremendous comfort level we share. We are thrilled to bring forward the story of this fearless patriot and the first Field Marshal of India," the actor said.
Raazi director, Meghna Gulzar made this announcement today on the 11th death anniversary of the army veteran. She said, "In remembrance, on the death anniversary of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Vicky also shared his joy of getting to play Manekshaw in the movie. The actor said, "I feel honoured and proud of getting a chance to unfold his journey on-screen."
