MG Hector will challenge the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta. The upcoming Kia Seltos is being seen as another major competitor. The new MG Hector is the first model to be launched in India by Morris Garages or MG Motor. It's also the first connected SUV from the company featuring its iSmart system.
New MG Hector gets the in-vogue split headlamp setup with LED DRLs placed high up and the bumper housing the main headlamps and fog lamps. The high-set bonnet and flat nose give it an imposing look akin to North American pick-up trucks. The Hector will bring a variety of first-in-segment features to the mid-size SUV space such as internet and connected car features along with a petrol mild-hybrid powertrain.
MG Hector will challenge the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta. A 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine will deliver 143 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque in MG Hector. The most fuel efficient will be the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel variant with a mileage of 17.41 kmpl. The premium SUV will be available in Style, Super, Smart and Sharp variants. MG Motor India has been generous with regard to the space inside the cabin of Hector.
