Mark Williams confident his health scare, World snooker champion was treated in hospital, not related to heart pain. Defending world champion Mark Williams has revealed doctors are confident his health scare is not related to his heart after going to hospital suffering from chest pains.

The 44-year-old took himself to A&E after the first session of his second-round match against David Gilbert at the world championships in Sheffield. The three-time world champion tweeted on Friday evening: "A&E. Couldn't stick the chest pains no more."

The 44-year-old informed tournament officials of the issue after the session and was advised by the on-call doctor to attend hospital. Williams made his own way there and is understood to be with his wife Joanne and son Kian.

He later posted: "Doctors are confidant [sic] it's not anything to do with my heart. Awaiting more tests at 10 o clock." "Lucky there wasn't any more frames to play." Gilbert leads the match 5-3.
