With the Kia Seltos all set to be launched in India next month, the compact SUV segment will see the addition of yet another connected vehicle in India. Slated to be launched in India on August 22, we have already told you almost everything about the upcoming Kia Seltos. We recently even got to drive the pre-production prototype model of the SUV, and we believe the Seltos will set a few benchmarks in the compact SUV segment. However, this segment recently also saw the launch of the MG Hector, and we also have some established players like the Hyundai Creta and the Tata Harrier.
The first thing to highlight that fact is the design of the Kia Seltos. It really does. At first glance, there’s a bit more wow packed in here. Of the two variant lines, the GT Line is the more sporty looking one. Red brake calipers, red accents on the body and 17-inch crystal cut alloy wheels give it the sportier touch. The Tech Line maintains a more mature stance, skipping the red trim and opting for a more subtle look for the bumper design too.
Specifications for The Kia Seltos
The Kia Seltos will be available in three BS-VI engine options - Smart stream 1.5 petrol, 1.5 diesel CRDI VGT and Smart stream 1.4 Turbo petrol. These engines will be offered in three automatic transmission options – seven-DCT, IVT, and six-AT along with six-speed manual transmission. Moreover, the Seltos also gets three driving modes - Sports, Normal and Eco. The company boasts about the signature Kia Tiger Nose Grille that gives it an aggressive look from the front, while the rear design is equally exciting which hosts a sporty spoiler and aluminum skid plates.
The first in segment sweeping LED light bar, crown jewel LED headlamps, unique heartbeat LED tail lamps and LED DRLs and ice-cube style front LED fog lamps that accentuate the design of the car and provides good illumination for the road ahead. Moreover, the R17 crystal cut alloys have a distinctive charm. Further, in the GT-Line trim, the Seltos also gets red brake calipers and red accents on side cladding for an even distinctive appearance.
On the inside the quality of materials as well as the fit and finish make it feel properly premium. The leatherette wrap for the flat-bottomed steering wheel, the switches and the chrome finish was up market. In terms of features, the 8-speaker 400W Bose sound system was plain delightful. It felt perfectly balanced and properly loud too.
