Kabir Singh Box office collection, Shahid Kapoor starrer beats Akshay Kumar’s TEPK in week one, Kabir Singh film mints Rs 146.63 crore. Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer is expected to cross the Rs 150 crore mark this weekend. Written and directed by Sandeep Vanga, the film earned Rs 20.21 crore on its opening day. Despite the release of Ayushmann Khurrana’s Article 15 this weekend, Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh is going strong at the box office.
On its day 7, Kabir Singh collected Rs 13.61 crore taking its week one total to a solid Rs 134.42 crore beating Akshay Kumar’s second highest grosser Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, which had made Rs 134.22 crore in its lifetime run.
The film opened to positive reviews and comes with the added advantage that it stars Ayushmann whose last films, Andhadhun and Badhaii Ho were hits. Kabir Singh, the remake of Telugu hit film Arjun Reddy, is also the fourth Bollywood film of 2019 to gross over Rs 20 crore on its first day. A Hindi adaptation of Telugu film Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh released in 3123 screens across India and earned around Rs 70 crore in its opening weekend. It is Shahid Kapoor’s first solo project to earn Rs 100 crore, and is the ninth highest grossing Bollywood film of 2019.
Kabir Singh is the highest grossing solo film of Shahid Kapoor’s career. Only Padmaavat, which also had Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, is above it. The film is the Hindi remake of Telugu film Arjun Reddy. Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who directed the original, has helmed this movie as well. Talking about Article 15’s box office prospects earlier, trade analyst Girish Johar told Hindustan Times, “The buzz is quite good about the film. The trailer was hard-hitting and everyone just stood up for what had come across their way.
