Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs in first look, First-look images from Snowpiercer TV series, Aims to Blend Adventure with Current Events. TBS has released the first images from their upcoming TV series adaptation of Snowpiercer. Created by Graeme Manson (Orphan Black), the upcoming series stars Daveed Diggs as Andrew Layton, an ex-detective who’s recruited by the train’s authorities to track down a killer.
In this series from Orphan Black co-creator Graeme Manson, Jennifer Connelly plays Melanie Cavill, the head of hospitality who is also, “the voice of the train, she does the announcements to all of the passengers,” says the actress.
Snowpiercer features a cast that also includes that also includes Alison Wright (The Americans), Mickey Sumner (Frances Ha), Susan Park (Ghostbusters), Iddo Goldberg (Peaky Blinders), Katie McGuinness (Dirty Filthy Love), Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Annalise Basso (Bedtime Stories), Sam Otto (Jellyfish), Roberto Urbina (Narcos), Sheila Vand (Argo), Jaylin Fletcher (Saturday Church) and Rowan Blanchard (Girl Meets World).
There are no details beyond that, but you can see from these images that she’s one of the better-off people on the train, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she turns out to be a primary antagonist.
If you’re onboard for a show which mixes near-future thrills with 2019 socio-political issues, then TBS’s Snowpiercer (premiering spring 2020) should be just the ticket.
