Happy Birthday Chiyaan Vikram, Tamil superstar and National award Winning actor Vikram Chiyaan celebrating his 53rd birthday today. His versatility in taking up challenging roles speaks for himself. Some of his most remarkable films are the romantic tragedy Sethu, Saamy where he turned to a foul-mouthed cop.
Some of Vikram’s getups have been hugely unrecognisable, with the actor going long lengths even for the shots that take up only a few seconds of screen time. Vikram made his debut in the 1990 film En Kadhal Kanmani, which was followed by a series of small-budget Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films in the 1990s, many of which went unnoticed.
Even though Kasi can be a part of this list, Pithamagan is where Vikram went a step ahead to portray a man who grew up in the graveyard, amongst the corpses. Bala’s characterisation for Vikram needed him to sport animalistic features, and boy did Vikram take that seriously and pull it off to perfection.
Vikram is only the third actor to receive a National Film Award for Best Actor in the Tamil film industry. He has won a National Film Award and seven Filmfare Awards South, of which five are Best Actor awards.
