'Aladdin' Trailer, Disney releases new 'Aladdin' Trailer, Aladdin Fans Change Their Minds on Will Smith's Genie After Seeing. This morning, Disney dropped the full-length trailer for Guy Ritchie’s live-action remake of Aladdin and unsurprisingly, the movie looks like it’ll be great, capturing the magic and whimsy of the 1992 animated original.

With several weeks having passed since the Internet lost its mind over the first glimpse of Will Smith in all of his blue glory as the Genie. It’s time to revisit the issue now that the footage proves the “controversy” was all for naught.

Will Smith is getting some love as the blue-skinned Genie in the upcoming live-action film Aladdin. The 50-year-old star was seen in all his magical glory in the first full-length trailer for the film on Tuesday and plenty of fans are now excited about his portrayal as the granter of wishes.

More to the point, the Genie is not a human being and should, therefore, look a little unsettling. As such, the Genie should be uncomfortable to behold when not in his human form, a form that is only assumed when he needs to blend in with us, in the words of Futurama’s Bender, “meat bags.”

It also appears that the film will feature some of the original movie's iconic songs like "A Whole New World," which won the Grammy Award for song of the year, the first Disney song to ever win that category. The song also won an Oscar.

Aladdin is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 24, 2019.
